"John Henry, strong man, railroad builder and hero...[who] proved that he could sink more steel than the steam drill could," one of a series of lithographs depicting heroes of American folklore by noted American artist William Gropper (1897-1977).  Gropper was also known for his cartoons on labor themes, many of which appeared in the Communist organs, The Daily Worker and The (Jewish) Morning Freiheit.
